About us

Pura Libertad Jarabacoa
Why?

J arabacoa is a holy ground where Christ has been actively at work since the creation of the world. Nestled in a tropical rainforest climate, the valley is known for its recreational beauty and fertility. Strawberries, coffee, pimento and aji peppers are agricultural gold. Waterfalls, rivers, and cool mountains are treasures of tourism. However, a poverty of marriage, absent fathers, and young teen pregnancy compromise the future of this magnificent town.

What?

Because God designed family and it is the main building block of society, Pura Libertad exists to resource leaders for family advocacy. Through an asset assessment of leadership and organizations already in this thriving community, we seek to accelerate their leadership capabilities through collaboration and education. Pura Libertad will provide mentorship to a limited number of approved applicants in our Leader Acceleration Program for individuals and organizations who desire to collaborate with others to:

• Reduce the number of out-of-wedlock and teen pregnancies
• Increase the number of marriages
• Increase sufficient father involvement

Leader Acceleration

Our Leader Acceleration Program is not just a conference, workshop, or set of educational opportunities but an organic networking experience for community leaders. The leaders accepted into the program will be identified as those able to bring unique strengths to a team which seeks to develop actionable steps to impact the value formation of the community to eradicate a lack of marriage, absent fathers, and unwed/teen pregnancy and who desire to replace those behaviors with a high value for marriage, male paternal leadership, and teens who make an intelligent faith-based decision to delay sexual activity until marriage.

Who Can Apply

Anyone may apply for acceptance into our Leader Acceleration Program. Individuals do not have to be professing Christians to attend, but should understand that the program presents a conversation where leaders can understand how the evangelical gospel message impacts unwed/teen pregnancy, fatherlessness, and familial brokenness to produce a thriving community where strong family structure provides a foundation for prosperity.

What we look for:

- Influence in credible faith-based, medical, academic, government, or nongovernmental organization
- Leaders who are serious about being committed to the long-term objective of promoting family values
- A commitment to attend all sessions of Gathering One and Gathering Two
- A commitment to participate in the representation of Gathering One content in Spanish within three months
- Humble and teachable spirit
- Innovative and creative thought process
- A current lifestyle of self-control and sexual purity

To attend the Pre-Gathering or be selected for a board position for Pura Libertad (to be determined at Gathering Two), you must sign a statement that you affirm the Apostles Creed. Applications for those who desire to attend the Pre-Gathering in State College, PA in addition to the full Leader Acceleration Program will be accepted until July 1, 2016. All others accepted until October 1, 2016.

Program Dates

Nestled in Happy Valley, home of Penn State University, is Pure Freedom's headquarters. Pure Freedom's three day Sexual Theology and Healing Training will prepare attendees to encourage men and women of all ages to live lives of purity, to equip others to heal from past impurity, and to experience a vibrant, passionate marriage which portrays the love of Christ for his Bride, the Church. (Ephesians 5:31,32) Up to four leaders from Pura Libertad Jarabacoa may attend the expanded training program to include a bonus day of prayer and assett assessment specifically for Jarabacoa and one personal prayer session. Having two to four members of the Jarabacoa community attend this traning week will provide for a more effective experience for all attendees at Pura Libertad Jarabacoa Gathering One.

At a private venue in Jarabacoa, Pura Libertad's first gathering of leaders will provide a collaborative educational environment. Three days of training on sexual theology, sexual healing, and reducing the risk of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases will equip and inspire leaders. Special sessions on human trafficking, abortion, fatherhood, and sexual abuse will be presented by leaders in those fields of study. Meal times will be structured to explore individual and organizational assetts to enter into a new community of fellowship where strengths and vision can intersect in partnerships to honor marriage, family and sexuality according to God’s design.

con

After presenting training within their own organizations and community, leaders will convene to share progress and challenges and gain insight into the process of having long term vision to reach goals and objectives. An opportunity will be given to make presentations. If long-term projects are deemed sustainable, board members will be selected out of the leadership pool.
